Stepping Out of your Comfort Zone!

First of all, what is comfort zone? Its the place where we do things we already know. Its the place where there is no challenge for us. We all are vividly in love with our comfort zones. Right? It's so easy. Actually its the easiest thing to do. What is difficult is stepping out of it. Now you must be thinking why step out of it when its so easy to stay within it? I mean why bother ourselves so much when we can actually live cozily in our comfort zones? Being in your comfort zone does not harm anybody. Does it? Well if you ask me, in the short run may or may not but, in the long run staying in your comfort zone is a choice that you 'll always regret.

Let me explain why. We are privileged to be born as human beings. You know why? Because we have the the ability to learn and grow faster than any other animal. So if we are not learning and growing, technically we are wasting our lives. In order to grow we must learn, in order to learn we must change and in order to change we must step out of our comfort zone.

And it is pretty simple. Always remember that comfort zones are the creation of your mind and don't you think that the same mind which can create them is empowered enough to conquer them if you can just believe and not be resilient towards change. Your job is to just shut your mind and take the leap, rest everything will follow.

And once you achieve this nobody can stop you from growing and henceforth achieving your highest potential.

Risks

To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.

To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.

To reach out for another is to risk involvement.

To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self.

To place your ideas, your dreams, before a crowd is to risk their loss.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.

To live is to risk dying.

To hope is to risk despair.

To try is to risk failure.

But risks must be taken, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.

The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, and is nothing.

They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but they cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love, or live.

Chained by their attitudes, they are slaves, they have forfeited their freedom.

Only a person who risks is free.

The Yummiest taste in this world - Health

"It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver."

                                                                      - Mahatma Gandhi

One of the most popular adage we hear since our childhood is that, "health is wealth". But still, one of the things we take for granted the most is- our health. Why? Cynthia Ozick rightly answers this tricky question when he said, "We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude". We must learn to value and respect the gift of health we have been blessed with. We must not wait for sickness to come to value health.

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as, "a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." Over a period of time, I have learned that taking care of your health is much easier before sickness has struck you than afterwards. Here comes another adage to prove this fact- " Prevention is better than cure." Simply saying, learn to respect your health and it will respect you back. Now some people would argue that health can be treasonable. Off course taking good care of your health does not guarantee that you will never fall sick but that does not mean you can afford to be ignorant towards it. Just like driving your car cautiously does not guarantee safety but that does not mean you should drink and drive.

To start off, one needs a committed heart, simple lifestyle changes and a little bit of discipline to reap the benefits of a long and healthy life. So what are you waiting for? Make a commitment to yourself and your body that you will give up any taste for The yummiest taste in this world- Health.  Always remember that you are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. Our body is the very temple of the holy spirit of God.

Timeless beauty- Jennifer Aniston

Well if you are in love with the popular TV Series F.R.I.E.N.D.S (1994-2004) just like me, then I don't think you need any introduction to Jennifer Aniston who portrayed our very own Rachel Green on the show. Jennifer Aniston, one of the most successful American actresses, directors, producers, and businesswomen of today, is a living example that success is nothing but failure turned inside out.

Lets take a look at the beautiful journey of this diva. Jennifer Aniston, born to actor John Aniston and actress Nancy Dow on February 11, 1969, grew up largely in New York City. Her life was taken aback when her parents split, leaving the 9 year old with her mother who was very critical of her since the beginning. The mother daughter duo did not go along for many years before their relationship harmonized. Jennifer did not do well at school at all. Her childhood was full of tragedies and dramas because she was dyslexic. However, it was not diagnosed until she was in her early 20's. She also has a lazy eye, like a crossed eye, which the photographers always have to correct in photos. In the beginning of her career as an actress, she was quite unsure of her career choice after giving 4 unsuccessful television shows. She use to support herself with several part-time jobs such as working as a telemarketer, waitress and bike messenger. But she did not give up until she got her breakthrough with the television sitcom Friends. It turned out to be the turning point of her life, from where there was no looking back. It made her a worldwide recognizable figure. She got paid $1 million per episode for the 10th season of Friends. She has done a lot of movies, commercials and music videos throughout her career. In 2014, she was ranked 3rd on Forbes Top Earning Actresses, earning 31 million in a year. She is one of the very few celebrities who look like they never age.

From a waitress, Jennifer Aniston went on to become a millionaire. With this I would like to say that, anything is possible in life. Never limit your life by being judgmental about what can and what can not happen. Work limitlessly and hope limitlessly.

Don't Quit

When things go wrong,

As they sometimes will,

When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high,

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit-

Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,

As every one of us sometimes learns,

And many a failure turns about

When he might have won had he stuck it out.

Don't give up though the pace seems slow-

You may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out-

The silver tint of the clouds of doubts,

And you never can tell how close you are,

It may be near when it seems so far,

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit

It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.

"Think outside the shoe" - Jessica Cox

Picture worth a thousand words...

"Instead of asking yourself- Can I accomplish it, ask yourself- How can I accomplish it"

- Jessica Cox

Redefining the meaning of the word "ability", Jessica Cox has proven again and again to this world that ability is nothing more than just a vision through obstacles. Its just the willingness to look beyond your roadblocks. Jessica Cox was born in 1983 in Arizona without arms due to a rare birth defect. But she chose to be the master of her destiny and not the slave of her tragedy.

In her own inspiring words,"What everything i have learned about overcoming obstacles is maintaining a positive attitude and to be as creative as possible. Creativity is just crucial because there is only one way to do something but if you are creative enough, you will always figure out a new way of doing something. Whenever I am compelling obstacle in life, I am pretty determined about overcoming it. It starts with acceptance, then you move forward. Its very easy to see ourselves as victim but we can also choose to see ourselves as the empowered ones. Fortunately, my parents brought me up, never letting me see myself as a victim. I believed that i was empowered and I could do anything."

Jessica Cox holds the Guinness World Record for being the first armless person in aviation history to earn a pilot's certificate. She decided to learn how to fly to be able to overcome her fear of flying. She is also the first armless person to earn a black-belt in American Taekwondo Association.( Currently, she has two black-belts in Taekwondo.) She is a psychology graduate and is recognized internationally as an inspirational keynote speaker. She has traveled to 20 countries sharing her inspiring message. She is also a certified SCUBA diver. She drives car without modification, plays piano, types keyboard, uses her phone, writes, put in and removes her contact lenses, surfs, cooks, eat, apply makeup and brush her hair with her feet. "Rightfooted" is the name of the documentary film being made on the life of Jessica Cox.

I think that impossible is a word that Jessica Cox has never learned. There is nothing that this woman can't do. As a motivational speaker she says to the world," Creativity + Persistence + Fearlessness = Nothing is impossible".

In the end I would like to pay my gratitude to this hero for sharing with us her story of courage and triumph and teaching us a beautiful lesson for life that "one's perspective is what makes the difference".

Anand Arnold's Will Power

Anand Arnold is a perfect example of a very simple, yet one of the most powerful sayings- "Where there is a will, there is always a way". Anand Arnold is India's First Wheelchair Bodybuilder. Talking about his achievements, Arnold has won Mr. India thrice and Mr. Punjab as many as eleven times. He also has twenty seven other championships credited to his name.

Born on November 11, 1986 in Ludhiana, Punjab, Anand discovered his passion for body building when he was just thirteen years old. But life had its own plan for him. At a tender age of fifteen, his legs stopped functioning due to effect of cancer which he was battling with. After an operation of spinal chord, the doctors had told him that he could lead a normal life after a bed rest of three months. He is still waiting for those "three months" to end. But he did not surrender to his limitations. He waited for three years after his cancer treatment before he started his training. Now he is 28 years old and he still continues to live his dream of body building. Presently, he is The International Model for muscle mania and brand Ambassador of HaleLife Nutrition and Fitness company. His peers call him Arnold due to his underlying respect and fandom for the bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger. His biography titled "Waitless: A true story of Courage and Determination", was written by Allen Woodman.

Anand Arnold is a living testimony of the fact that life is what we make it. He proves that in each difficulty lies an opportunity. He won because he refused to become discouraged by his defeats. He has achieved what even the fittest of us cannot even dream about. He succeeded in spite of problems, not in the absence of them.

In the end, I would like to salute the spirit of this hero and would like to pay him my gratitude for being such a great inspiration to all of us.

The Butterfly

Nature has its own impeccable way of teaching us some beautiful lessons for life. Butterflies are so tiny and fragile, yet one of the most beautiful creations of God. Butterfly is a combination of two words - butter and fly. Hence, their name itself specifies their ultimate purpose in life and i.e to fly. But are they born with the wings they need to be able to fly?

A butterfly has four stages in its life cycle. A butterfly first starts out as an egg. Butterfly eggs are protected by a hard- ridged outer layer of shell. About five days after the eggs are laid, a tiny worm like creature called the caterpillar hatches from the egg. A caterpillar grows really fast because they eat a lot. After the caterpillar is done growing it develops a pupa around it, inside which the caterpillar changes into a butterfly.

But the butterfly has to struggle a lot to come out of the cocoon. This struggle period is what catapults it into a magnificent butterfly it was destined to become. Its a law of nature that the struggle to come out of the cocoon actually helps develop and strengthen the butterfly's wings. If we skip this struggle period, the butterfly will die and hence will never be able to fly.

These little living beings teach us one of the biggest lessons, that trials in life can be tragedies or triumphs, depending on how we handle them. Most people give up just when they're about to achieve success.

The trials of life do not come to destroy us but to give us wings to fly

Marathon of Hope - Terry Fox

Terry Fox

 1958 - 1981

" I am not a dreamer, and I am not saying that this will initiate any kind of definitive answer or cure to cancer, but I believe in miracles, I have to."

- Terry Fox

Terry Fox was born and brought up in Canada. An active teenager involved in many sports, Terry was just 18 years old when he was diagnosed with bone cancer and was forced to have his right leg amputated 15 cm above the knee in 1977. He underwent the physical and mental trauma of chemotherapy for 16 months and during his treatment, he used to feel angry with the fact that very little money was devoted towards cancer research. So he decided to take the responsibility of bringing a change to the society, on his shoulders.

Inspired by Dick Traum, the first amputee to complete the New York City Marathon, Terry Fox began Marathon of Hope, a cross country run for raising money for cancer research. It was a journey that Canadians never forget. With fierce determination, he ran 42 km per day for 143 days until September 1, 1980, when he experienced a lot of short breaths and with continued chest pain was driven to a hospital where he got to know that his cancer had returned and had spread to his lungs. Terry died in June 1981. His funeral, attended by 40 relatives and 200 guests, was broadcast on national television.

Many buildings and streets in Canada have named after Terry. The physical memorials in Canada named after Fox also includes his 7 statues. Terry Fox is an inspiration to one and all and he exemplifies that one person is enough to make a difference to the society. To do so, one requires a vision, belief and most importantly a passionate desire.

The number One skill in life is- Not Giving Up

Hello everyone. Let me ask you a very simple question. What is the difference between success and failure? The only difference between success and failure is that a successful person "never gives up". He fails 1000 times before succeeding The 1001th times. Let me ask you another simple question. Does giving up helps you achieve your dream or does it accelerate the process ? We all know the answer. It is a big no. Then why give up? Why even raise the question of giving up? My dear friends, the question we need to ask ourselves is " How much importance does your dream hold in your life?"

I'll tell you a story:

Socrates was Plato's mentor. One day they were walking down a beach. Then Socrates asked Plato to walk with him into the ocean. They started walking into the sea together. The water started out around their ankles, then rose up to their knees. As the water level rose, Plato wondered, “What is the lesson my master is trying to teach me?” When the water was about shoulder height, Socrates abruptly grabbed Plato’s head and pushed him down under the water. After sometime, when Plato ran out of air, he began to struggle to get his head above water. Eventually, Plato blacked out due to lack of oxygen. Socrates pulled him ashore. When Plato regained consciousness, at first he was extremely angry at Socrates for doing this to him. But Socrates explained, “If that had been my intention, I would not have pulled you ashore. I wanted to teach you that, when you desire my knowledge like you desired that breath of air, then you shall have it.”

We want to achieve so many things in life but many a times we don't. The reason is very simple, and i.e we don't desire it the way Plato desired that breath of air.

'The only limit to our realization of tomorrow is our doubts of today.'

                                                                                         - Franklin D. Roosevelt

If you have that burning desire, if you have that fire in your belly, then only sky is the limit and nothing can stop you. There are no doubts, there are no fears and thus there is no question of Giving up.

Happiness is a choice

Hello everyone. Life is a such a wondrous gift given to us by God. The greatest purpose of our existence is to be Happy and spread Happiness. God would never want any of his/her creations to suffer or undergo any kind of anguish.

There is a very simple rule for happiness in life -
"Keep the controllable things under control and ACCEPT the ones you cannot control."

One must never forget 'What you resist persists.' So if you dislike something and you want to change it then the first step towards the change would be to accept it, make peace with it. 'Happiness is not a destination. Its a journey.' One can never achieve anything in life if that person is unhappy and carries a negative approach towards his/her life. Always remember 'Happiness leads to success.' Its never the other way around. So inner happiness actually is the fuel of success. Be happy now. Feel good now. Its impossible to feel good and at the same time be having negative thoughts and remember, you become what you think. If you are feeling good, it is because you are thinking good thoughts.

Always remember that YOU, yes you deserve all the happiness in this world and the only way to bring more and more happiness into your life is be happy nowNow this does not mean that we cannot have negative feelings at all. We are humans and we all tend to have negative feelings some times in life. Again, don't resist those negative feelings otherwise they 'll persist. Try and focus on things you love, people you love. Think about all the good things life has blessed you with and within no time you will realize that you feel better and the negative feelings are all gone. Its very very easy to change your feelings and hence change your life. Sometimes just by listening to your favourite song you can change your mood. We all know exactly what are favourite things are.

Be happy for no reason, like a child. If you are happy for a reason, you are in trouble, because that reason can be taken away from you.The key to your inner happiness is with you and only you. Be someone who makes you happy. The happiest people don't have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything.

Always remember "Happiness is a choice, choose it today."
